I don’t like this, but this is the only idea I got, so be it.

“Why did you bring me here?” Paige asked, looking around the Japanese park.

“Don’t you like it?” Luciano replied. The scenery was pretty, with the flowers and the calmness surrounding the ponds.

“I like it, but I’m not here for the cherry trees.” She was angry, not even the smell of the petals blowing in front of her would change that. They walked up to the middle of an orange bridge, where he stopped to face her.

“I can’t continue like this. I never was good at lying.”

“And compromise the mission? You know what’s at risk, you have to continue as planned.”

“But I think Ramson began to fall in love with me,” he worried his bottom lip, chin hiding some more under his scarf. “And I think I might be falling in love with him, too.”

She sighed, annoyed. “You can’t say anything now, that’s for sure. Once the mission is accomplished, then that’ll be another story. If he isn’t angry, of course.”

“How long before the next step?” The sooner he was done with his undercover position, the sooner he could come clean to the one he’d began to court for his protection.

“When we’ll give you the go. Try to keep your feelings in check, you wouldn’t want them to compromise what we’re trying to accomplish, yes?”

“No, I… I guess this was stupid of me to ask. I apologize.”

“No offense taken, but agent, be more careful.” On that, Paige took off. Luciano watched her leave the orange bridge and stride to the entrance of the park. His phone buzzed in his pocket, letting him know he had a new text message.

It was Ramson, asking him if he wanted to have dinner with him.
